Greenfield Showcase Program

Greenfield Youth Baseball’s Sunday Showcase Program is not a traditional travel organization. It is an advanced developmental program designed to provide players with additional opportunities to practice more, play more, and compete against stronger competition from surrounding leagues.

Players must attend tryouts to be considered for a Showcase team and will pay an additional fee beyond standard GYBA recreational registration. All Showcase players are required to participate in the GYBA recreational league. The Showcase season runs simultaneously with the recreational season and may continue afterward, with coaches reserving the right to hold team activities during the fall and winter months.

This program is built to enhance development while still allowing players to participate in other sports and activities. Our goal is not to create one-sport athletes, but to provide higher-level competition opportunities for players who are ready for it.

Team Selection and Season Timeline

Tryouts are open to all eligible GYBA players; however, placement on a Showcase roster is competitive and not guaranteed. Teams are selected each year based on evaluation session results and overall team needs.

Roster spots are earned annually. Selection to a Showcase team in a previous season does not guarantee placement in future seasons. All players must participate in the tryout process each year and will be evaluated alongside their peers.

Initial rosters are finalized by November 1. Teams compete through August of the following year and typically participate in one Halloween-style tournament in the fall.

Tournaments and Competition

During the spring and summer, teams typically compete in tournaments in surrounding counties. Each coach may choose to enter additional tournaments if the team determines it is appropriate. GYBA hosts five tournaments annually, some single-day and some weekend events, and Showcase teams participate in these at no cost.

Practice and Facilities

Teams may practice during the winter months. Workouts may take place at 84 Sports, G7, the Boys and Girls Club, GCCSC schools, and, as weather allows, at Greenfield Baseball Park. Practice schedules are created with the intent of minimizing conflicts with other sports whenever possible.

Program Costs

Program costs typically range from $150 to $300, depending on the number of tournaments entered, facility rentals, and additional team activities scheduled by coaches. Sponsorships and fundraising efforts may help reduce overall costs.

A $100 deposit is due by December 1, with the remaining balance due by January 1. Scholarship opportunities are available.

Governance

The Greenfield Showcase Program operates under the Greenfield Youth Baseball Association and is subject to the rules, charter, and oversight of the GYBA Board of Directors.
